Just got back from the makeup event, practice run. Seems they didn't do as I asked and make a list, goggle some images for each of the looks, so I could see what we was talking about. Only two ladies did this- and the makeup on them freaking rocked as I knew what they wanted.
Folks- if you can plan a Haunted House- you can tell me what makeup you want. Saying "They just hang out, walking around in the morgue screen." "So- they are dead?" "Yeah" "How did they die?" "Huh?" "Was it a gun shot wound to the head? Or ???" Just a little hint on what you want helps, you know?
So the three ladies who are helping me are wonderful tho. They got in there and took any directions I could give, any comments I made. Wonderful folks to work with, couldn't ask for better.
Just wish I had a clue about what I am doing.
6:30 pm was the time to show up, and was to do 10 looks by 8:00 pm, when it opens. First time the ladies has a chance to get their hands dirty, per say, after only watching me do three makeup looks earlier in the week. And they did such a great job. :) Before this is over they will be able to out do me on this.
We did 16 looks, some plain, some fancy, and was ten minutes late on the time. I know we will get better, I know they will learn and understand what I want with practice. 4 of us- me really just doing the final looks, touches- is about 4 makeup looks each in under a hour and a half. Kind of tells ya the looks we are ending up with. We have come to understanding we need to start at 5:30, work a little more on details then on how many we can get out the door. Like working with ladies who understand this stuff takes time, if you want a good look.
Heck- I take a month to do a look. I have the "I want to do a witch look" one day, then a few weeks of looking at images, then a test on colors, a practice run if you will. Time table of about a month later I will do the look. I take my time, most take a hour or longer.
The looks I knew- like the clown face, went better this time. The ladies who was the tortured, and they did bring in photos, was great. Had one guy who wanted me to do Jeepers Creepers on him. Really? You do know that is not a makeup look, right? You need mold for that, a whole different kind of makeup. Give me a few hours, and I might ... might.. come close with makeup only. But for the jaws teeth- those are not make up dude. And it is so dark in the Haunted House he just looked like a brown man. Hey- it takes time and effort to draw and blend in those lines. Then stand in the shadows- what do you expect? Really hope they don't expect me to do that look again.
At the end it seems folks was happy, and it was fun. Feet and back hurt. Only had one latex wound come loose- and that was on a neck area of the clown.
Using too much black eyes tho- have to find some other looks and get away from that. I did brown shadow eyes on the two evil doctors, and they was really nice looking under the lights. We did get to go into the Haunted House, see the makeup under the lights. Made notes, got some things to change before the next one, which is open to the public. 2 weeks time, so I can plan some.
Spending Sunday with goggle and printing off some images, use to guild the ladies and myself. Got some looks I want to fly by them, see if they will go for it, once I have seen the lighting, and what they are doing.
So all and all- having fun, busy busy busy with everyone wanting and needing something. But it is makeup... come on, you know it is fun. :)

It's still in the high 80's here but that post roast sure sounds yummy :D
